Built with a state-of-the-art, sixth-generation architecture and terabit-scale switch fabrics, the Brocade MLX Series has a proven heritage with more than 10,000 routers deployed worldwide. Internet Service Providers (ISPs), transit networks, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), hosting providers, and Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) rely on these routers to meet skyrocketing traffic requirements and reduce the cost per bit. The Brocade MLX Series includes Brocade MLX Routers with up to 7.68 Tbps of routing capacity and Brocade MLXe Core Routers with up to 15.36 Tbps of routing capacity. Both models are available in 4-, 8-, 16-, and 32-slot chassis, and deliver up to 768 10 GbE and 1536 1 GbE ports in a single system.
A 2-port 100 GbE module will provide wire-speed connectivity over both ports in the Brocade MLXe, wire-speed connectivity over a single port in Brocade MLX Routers using the cost-saving Ports on Demand (PoD) feature, and enable the industry's first multi-terabit trunks. Brocade MLX and Brocade NetIron XMR modules can be utilized in the Brocade MLXe model chassis, protecting network investments. All of the Brocade MLX Series routers help reduce power and cooling costs with the lowest power consumption and heat dissipation in their class.
The new half-slot Brocade MLXe 24-port 10 GbE module provides the highest 10 GbE port density in a single router. It supports up to 256,000 IPv4 routes in the FIB, one million MPLS labels, and up to 200 Gbps—in addition to Layer 2, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS VPLS/VLL, and L3 VPN services. It is ideal for high-density MPLS LSR core, data center core routing, and Layer 2/ 3 switching and routing. The 24X10 GbE-DM module is the greenest and most efficient 10 GbE module in the Brocade MLX Series, providing up to 57 percent power savings per 10 GbE basis compared to the 8-port 10 GbE modules.
Designed for non-stop networking, the Brocade MLX Series features Multi-Chassis Trunking (MCT), which provides more than 30 Tbps of dual-chassis bandwidth, full active/active routing links, and uninterrupted traffic flow in the event of node failover. Organizations can achieve high resiliency through fully redundant switch fabrics, management modules, power supplies, and cooling systems. And to further ensure network and application availability, the Brocade IronWare operating system features hitless management failover and software upgrades.

The Brocade MLX Series delivers OpenFlow in hybrid mode. With Brocade hybrid mode, organizations can simultaneously deploy traditional Layer 2/3 forwarding with OpenFlow. This unique capability enables network operators to integrate OpenFlow into existing networks, giving them the programmatic control offered by SDN for specific flows while the remaining traffic is handled as before. The Brocade hardware support for OpenFlow enables organizations to apply these capabilities at line rate in 10 GbE and 100 GbE networks.
